"My approach to design is to embrace the client’s needs and create spaces that are tailored and comfortable, much like a tailor creating a suit. My experience as a stone sculptor, during my years in Berlin with Master Yoshimi Hashimoto, taught me that one must be guided by the material. Even when starting with a clear and defined initial idea, the final result is often a continuous compromise between one’s vision and the force of the stone that must be shaped. The construction site, the space, technical and systems requirements, alongside the client’s needs, often lead to unexpected and astonishing results. The master and friend Corrado Levi guided me to make Lightness and the ability to surprise and be surprised a fundamental element of my architectural research."
